Hi,
I have so much confusion around mold and the spores. Are mold spores found everywhere? Like anything from new store bought merchandise to old clothes found at thrift stores?
Also, if something has mold on it and it’s not visible, and touches other clothes, does that mean the other clothes have mold spores on it? Or it doesn’t matter because spores are everywhere regardless?
Lastly, if you can’t see the mold, should you even worry?
I want to understand how it works because there is so much scare with mold and I don’t get it (if it’s everywhere?).
thank you!
It is true that mold spores are almost everywhere. Our clothes can also carry mold spores. For example in summer, the outdoor air contains enormous amounts of spores. These spores can be trapped within the fibres of the clothes as we walk outside.
It is true that mold is a health hazard. However, this depends on many factors including:
- The amount of mold one is exposed to
- The type of mold
- Individual’s sensitivity to mold and their health status.
Mold is actually a problem if it is actively growing in occupied spaces such as in homes, offices and other work environments.
