Identify What is Causing Your Sneezing Fits
Runny nose? Sneezing all the time? Don’t assume it’s a cold – you may be allergic to mould spores. Although mould could be visible, it can grow behind your walls or in your basement where you can’t see it. Mould spores get into your nose and cause hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, upper respiratory irritation, cough and eye irritation. The spores also can reach the lungs and trigger asthma. If you suspect you or someone in your family may be experiencing health symptoms because of exposure to mould, you should test the air in your home for airborne mould spores. There are hundreds of types of moulds, but not all of them are responsible for causing allergy symptoms.
How would you find out if the air in your home contains dangerous levels of mould spores? BioPump plus is a cost effective, easy to use, and industry validated airborne mould spore sampling pump for the DO IT YOURSELF consumer. You can screen the mold levels inside your home or office with BioPump Plus. Use BioPump Plus to collect air samples yourself and send the samples to the lab for analysis. How Would You Know if You Are Breathing Excessive Airborne Mould Spores in Your Home?
Do you have any musty smells especially in the basement? Is there any visible mould growing in bathrooms, window sills, books, shoes or walls? Are there water stains on the ceiling or walls? Is there peeling paint? Are the wood floors warping? If so you probably have mould in the air of your home and you should seriously consider air testing. Remember that all homes have some amount of mould spores floating in the air and that is normal. The problem is when there is excessive amount of mould spores due to mould that is actively growing in your home.
Should you hire a professional to test the air for you?

How Many Samples Should You Collect?
The number of samples to collect depends on the number of rooms you wish to test. The basic package comes with 2 air sampling cassettes. This enables you to take 1 sample indoors and a control sample outdoors. Each room to be tested requires 1 cassette. If you’re testing 5 rooms (for example), you need 6 cassettes, one for the control/outdoor sample. In this case you need 4 additional cassettes (that is 6-2 = 4 cassettes). Additional cassettes can be added to your package at any time.
